Where meaningful experiences become lasting memories

making memories

At Jackson Hole Therapeutic Riding, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy, connection, and empowerment that comes from spending time with horses. Our Making Memories program is designed for visitors to the Jackson area who may not be able to safely participate in traditional riding opportunities, such as guided trail rides with outfitters.

These visits offer an opportunity to enjoy the magic of horses in a way that’s both safe and empowering, surrounded by experienced instructors and caring volunteers who ensure each experience is positive, comfortable, and memorable.

WHAT IS making memories?

This unique program is designed for area visitors who do not participate in our ongoing riding or therapy programs but still want to enjoy a tailored, hands-on experience with our horses. Whether you’re in Jackson Hole for a short stay or celebrating a special occasion, Making Memories is all about creating meaningful, inclusive experiences for people of all abilities.

WHO CAN BENEFIT?

The Making Memories Program is ideal for:

  • Visitors to the Jackson area who cannot safely join traditional trail rides

  • Individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, or developmental disabilities

  • Families or caregivers seeking an adaptive, supportive horse experience

  • Organizations serving individuals with special needs or limited mobility

While this program may include mounted activities, it is not a recreational riding or trail experience—it is a therapeutic and adaptive opportunity aligned with JHTR’s mission of empowering individuals of all abilities through equine-assisted activities and therapies.

what to expect

Each Making Memories experience is customized to the participant’s abilities, goals, and comfort level. Depending on individual needs, visits may be mounted or unmounted and can include:

  • Grooming, leading, and bonding with our therapy horses

  • Learning basic horsemanship and communication skills

  • Guided mounted experiences focused on comfort, connection, and confidence

  • Opportunities to learn about horse behavior and care

  • Time to reflect and capture special moments with your equine partner

Our goal is to create safe, empowering encounters that foster connection, confidence, and joy—leaving participants with meaningful memories that last long after their visit.
