Considering donating your horse?
Thank you for your interest in donating a horse to Jackson Hole Therapeutic Riding. This is a meaningful and generous decision, and we are honored that you are considering JHTR as part of your horse’s next chapter.
Our horses are the foundation of everything we do. They partner with our participants to build confidence, strength, independence, and connection. Because of this, selecting the right horses for our program is a careful and intentional process centered on safety, soundness, temperament, and suitability for therapeutic work.
What to Expect
This form helps us gather important background information about your horse, including health history, training, behavior, and overall suitability for a therapeutic environment.
After you submit:
- Our team will review your horse’s information
- We may follow up with additional questions or request references
- If it appears to be a potential fit, we may schedule an in-person evaluation
Please note that not all horses are suited for therapeutic riding programs, and we are not able to accept every donation. This is solely to ensure the safety and success of our participants, volunteers, staff, and horses.
Why We Ask for Detailed Information
Therapeutic riding horses must be:
- Exceptionally calm, patient, and predictable
- Comfortable with adaptive equipment and multiple handlers
- Physically sound and able to safely carry participants with varying needs
- Able to thrive in a structured, high-interaction environment
The more information you can provide, the better we can determine whether your horse may be a good fit.
We truly appreciate your time, transparency, and care in completing this form—and your commitment to your horse’s future.
