Connor Liljestrom (b. 1995, Jackson, Wyoming) graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Wyoming in 2019, where he received recognition through scholarship awards, portfolio review, and residency selection. Since then, his work has sold out at solo exhibitions and has been acquired by private collectors both nationally and internationally. His early success has allowed him to establish an independent studio through which he works directly with collectors.
His work draws from mythology, Hollywood and popular culture, natural history, colonialism, and the canon of Western art history. Liljestrom layers these references to create a platform for viewers to engage in conversations around these subjects or encounter them for the first time. The quality of his mark-making, paint application, and use of color draws attention to the surface of the work, extending its meaning beyond the rendered imagery to the medium itself. He works primarily in oil and mixed oil media.
He lives and works in Jackson, Wyoming.
